Price ranges
Billiards, like all products on the market, can vary greatly in price, sometimes even by several thousand euros. So don't be surprised if you find billiard tables costing €1,000 and others costing €40,000. So, let's try to shed some light on the subject.
The main features that determine the price are:
Quality of materials
Construction complexity
Research and development of original designs
First of all, the cost of a pool table should never be compared to that of a table. This is because producing a pool table requires superior materials, precision workmanship, and sufficient structural complexity to give the table the stability necessary for play.
For example, while €2,000 can buy a high-quality new table, the same amount will only buy a budget-friendly pool table. This doesn't apply to used pool tables, which are clearly more affordable.
PRICES: €1000 - €2500
(Anything sold for less than €1000 is considered a "toy")

This category includes classic billiard tables imported from Asia by large e-commerce sites.
These are billiard tables that have nothing to do with "real" billiards as we all know it for the following reasons:
They don't have a slate tabletop. The slate tabletop is the structure beneath the cloth that allows for extreme precision and long-lasting stability, being resistant to environmental changes, such as humidity. Billiard tables in this range often have MDF or plastic tabletops.
They don't have a real wood frame. The wooden frame, which must be solid, ensures the various components are well-attached and therefore the stability of the billiard table itself. This is also a fundamental component. These billiard tables typically have frames and sides made of OSB, MDF, or other wood waste mixes, which result in lower strength, less stability, and imprecise cushion response. Secondly, solid wood allows for higher-quality workmanship, resulting in more aesthetically refined tables.
Please note: When you read the term "Wood" in product descriptions, it almost never means solid wood, which is usually specified. The term refers to any type of material derived from wood itself, such as MDF, OSB, plywood, etc.
Basic finishes. These types of billiard tables are obviously mass-produced and have simple lines, thus resulting in less attention to detail.
MID-RANGE: €2,500 - €6,000

In this range we find billiard tables that are aesthetically "simple" or "not very sophisticated" but certainly more valid in terms of play, weight and stability.
The MINERVA model one of our products falls into this category.
What are the characteristics of mid-range billiard tables?
They typically have a slate top. Most have a slate top, which, as mentioned above, provides stability. Slate is a heavy, solid, and full material, which is therefore quite expensive and increases the price of the final product.
High-quality construction materials. This type of billiard table begins to show a higher quality of materials. For example, the legs or frame can be made of metal or solid wood, thus giving the table greater stability.
Simple finishes. Billiard tables in this price range rarely feature solid wood finishes, typically only those priced above €4,000. Most mid-range billiard tables, however, feature chipboard, Formica, or veneer finishes.
HIGH RANGE: €6,000 - €10,000

This range includes the most prestigious billiard tables. A perfect example to consider the differences with the previous categories is the SPACE model.
Slate tabletop (always). When it comes to high-end billiard tables, it's a given that a slate tabletop is always present. The slate itself is often also of superior quality .
Quality construction. These billiard tables almost always feature metal frames covered with solid wood sides, ensuring excellent stability and therefore precision play.

Fast cushions. The cushions used in new-generation billiards are triangular cushions known as "high-response" cushions. This type of cushion allows for greater elasticity and precision in the ball's rebound, combined with a simultaneous reduction in sound.
Finishes. Working with solid wood allows for much more precise finishes, which are not possible with other materials. The final product will therefore be much more valuable and aesthetically appealing. Finally, the type of wood chosen and used varies (Ash, Beech, Walnut, Oak, Rosewood, etc.), resulting in a superior quality of the final product.

Original designs. By working with more durable and sturdy materials, game tables can be shaped in an infinite range of ways, resulting in billiard tables with superior design.
LUXURY RANGE: from €10,000 and up
In this range, what mainly affects is the extremely refined design of the gaming table, with its high-quality materials and "Artistic" factor.
Many of these products cannot be machined because they are so sought-after, and the manual workmanship of skilled craftsmen therefore affects the final price.
In short, it is for those who want the best in quality materials, original design, and meticulous attention to detail.
It is therefore important to underline that all these categories of billiards can be suitable, depending on the needs of the person purchasing it.
If you have no particular demands, the economy range will also be fine.
If you want to play well, you should choose at least a mid-range billiard table.
If, however, you want a high-quality billiard table that is both high-quality and aesthetically pleasing, you should choose a high-end billiard table.
